In the Swiss Attic
Taken in 2020, Switzerland
Created on pure cotton handmade paper, this work is sculpted through layers of archival emulsions and textures applied by hand, forming a tactile surface where image and material merge. Pigment-based inks and hand-applied finishes make each piece one of a kind. Produced in two distinct sizes, each edition is limited and individually crafted, with no two works identical. Developed over more than two years, this technique allows the work to be displayed without glass, as it is varnished for both physical and UV protection. If preferred, gallery-standard non-reflective glass may be used.
In the Swiss Attic depicts an intimate gathering inside the attic of a remote Swiss farmhouse. It explores memory, presence and the emotional weight carried by ordinary interiors. Rather than documenting a specific moment, the layered surface softens the boundaries between recollection and reality, allowing fragments of light, architecture and human presence to emerge gradually.
Framed in deep matte black using Lion moulding, the larger version measures 62 × 52 cm, while the smaller version measures 39.5 × 47.5 cm. Both are designed to be displayed without glass, with varnished surfaces that protect and enhance their layered depth. Each work is supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and an embossed signature mark.
Editions and sizes:
62 × 52 cm — edition of 6 handcrafted originals, each unique
39.5 × 47.5 cm — edition of 9 handcrafted originals, each unique
Frame: Deep matte black, no glass
