Black on bees wax

Created on archival cotton paper, this work combines pigment-based inks with hand-applied finishes, making each piece individually crafted and unique.
The surface is finished with a thin layer of encaustic beeswax. Rather than creating a high-gloss or reflective surface, the wax gives the work a soft satin sheen, subtly deepening the darker tones and adding a quiet sense of depth to the layered image. The finish becomes part of the physical character of the work, allowing the photographic image and the material surface to exist together.
Black explores a quiet, almost suspended woodland landscape. Trees emerge and disappear within layers of darkness, creating an image that sits somewhere between observation and memory. The softened details give the landscape an uncertain, almost dreamlike presence.
Framed in deep matte black using Lion moulding, the work measures 62 × 52 cm and is designed to be displayed without glass, allowing the tactile surface and subtle satin finish of the encaustic wax to remain visible.
Each work is supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and an embossed signature mark.
