Created on pure cotton handmade paper, Black began as a photograph made during the first Covid lockdown. The surface carries its own history, broken, reworked and resolved through a process developed over more than two years. Each piece is built from handmade cotton paper, treated with archival emulsions and layered textures that bring image and material into a single plane. Pigment-based inks and hand-applied finishes ensure that every work remains distinct.
Black sits between what is seen and what is felt, holding a trace of time and a restrained sense of presence. The image is quiet, but not static, shaped by process as much as by subject.
Framed in deep matte black using Lion moulding, the work is intended to be displayed without glass. The surface is varnished for UV and physical protection, while maintaining its tactile depth. Each piece is supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and an embossed signature mark.
